This is a series of texture shots from the Alvord Desert hot springs in remote Southeast Oregon. There is some wild geology/chemistry happening in this location. Water boils up from these hot springs and trickles onto the sun-baked surface of the nearby playa. The red comes from dissolved volcanic rocks. I love the seemingly chaotic nature of it all…until you start to take a closer look. Then you begin to see the rhythm and patterns of this extreme and remote landscape.
