a close up of a plant near a tree

A jungle creeper clings tightly to the trunk of a tree. It is called a shingle plant, probably because the leaves look like overlapping roof shingles. The lightest leaves are the newest leaves. The botanical name is Rhaphidophora cryptantha and the photo was taken in the Cairns Botanic Gardens in Australia.
