Spiders are arachnids, a class of joint-legged invertebrate animals that includes scorpions, ticks, and mites. They are characterized by their two main body parts, the cephalothorax (head and thorax fused together) and the abdomen, and eight legs. Spiders are found in nearly every habitat around the world, and there are over 48,000 known species.
