a bright green object in the middle of the night sky

Comet Leonard was passing close to Earth on 3 December 2019. The bright star formation in the photo is the globular cluster M3 containing about half a million stars, way out in the Milky Way, so it is an illusion that the comet is close. Pentax K-1 camera and a 250 mm lens. Lights from the town degraded the image quality, so multiple images were stacked to get the final result. They say that comets are portents of doom and predict disaster, pestilence, or famine, but hopefully this comet is not the harbinger of more bad news.
