Hoverfly (Syrphidae) flying There are another few tell-tale signs to help identify honeybees from hoverflies. Flies have larger compound eyes than bees. In addition, bee-like flies have short stumpy antennae. Finally, although some hoverflies have fuzzy bodies, most of them are smooth, making them look more like wasps than bees.
