Hiking Cat Bells

In the Lake District of northern England, we took a boat across Derwent Water to the trail head. We walked along this hill that had no trees, but was covered in ferns. Sheep wandered around, poking their heads up at us, giving a “baah” as we strolled by. The air was cool & still – we heard the distant thunder first, then saw the dark clouds of the quickly approaching storm. we turned around to try and beat it home; the storm won, soaking us to the bone, but giving us quite a show. We’ll never forget this hike.
