A magnificent neo-Gothic church that dominates the Paarl skyline. The Toringkerk was designed by Sherwood, Davidge & Pitts of Cape Town and cost 22,000 pounds. Completed in 1911. The church can seat 2000 people. The magnificent ceiling has wooden supports carved to represent the Biblical crown of thorns. The organ was supplied by Norman & Beard of London. This church was built as a sister church to the Strooidak Church when the congregation of Paarl became too big for one church. http://www.paarlonline.com/paarl-activities/paarl-heritage/
