A coral nursery (like a plant nursery) at the Cairns Aquarium. Small fragments are glued to a ceramic plug, much like taking cuttings of plants. Once they grow big enough, they may be used to restore damaged reefs on the Great Barrier Reef, or used in the tanks at the aquarium. Thank you to Izaac Lilley, senior aquarist at the Cairns Aquarium, for showing me around behind the scenes.
