Anyone who has climbed up loose scree, rocks, or sand knows how painfully frustrating it is to slide halfway back down with every step up. So when the time came to descend Volcan Acatenango after a night spent above the clouds, we unspokenly started sprinting down the slope, kicking up dust, running just because we were able to.
