We were hiking up Broga Hill, a hill popular with locals near the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur. Many people hike up here in the wee hours of the morning to catch the sunrise. I underestimated the hike up. The paths were slippery, muddy and steep. There were many swallows gliding in the wind effortlessly that morning, seemingly mocking the hikers of their journey on foot. A jolt of excitement flurried through me as I captured the moment of a swallow gliding over the sun-kissed peak. As ironic as it sounds–I captured freedom.
