Winter in Icebox Canyon
The sandstone cliffs towering over 2,000 feet above Icebox Canyon inside of Red Rock Canyon west of Las Vegas are high enough to catch snow from winter storms, creating a nearly year-round source of water for the canyon below. The steep canyon stays cooler, supporting the remnants of a forest from the last glacial age. Photo taken looking up near the beginning of the main trail into the canyon.
