St. Paulin is the most bautiful baroque church in Trier, Germanys oldest city. It has been founded on the remains of a romanesque church in 1734 by archbishop Franz Georg von Schönborn in 1734. While iterior was made by Balthasar Neumann, the paitings were made by Christoph Thomas Scheffler in 1743. When Napoleon Bonaparte visited Trier in 1794 he was impressed by its beauty. The church has been promoted to a basilica minor by pope Pius XII. in 1958. The image shows the service, which was held on christmas eve in 2016.
