When in Namibia, we travelled to Sandwich Harbour and were greeted with beautifully pink glazed sand dunes. The pink, which glistened ever bright in the sunlight, was tinted by the bacteria used at a nearby salt mine. When the winds of the Atlantic picked up, salt carrying the bacteria would flow into the desert, mixing with the sand - creating the beautiful soft pink that covered the dunes for miles and miles!
