The La Mejicana Mine is an auriferous mine located at Cerro Famatina at 4,600 masl (General Belgrano) 34 km from the city of Famatina in the province of La Rioja, Argentina. To transport the large amount of ore to Chilecito, what was at that time one of the largest engineering works in the world was built, the Cable Carril was finished in 1905 with a length of 35 km and is now part of the monuments and Historic places of Argentina.
