We were at our friends’ house celebrating the last night of Hanukkah. We had 5 menorahs and five children. I brought traditional Hannukah candles. Their children had rolled sheets of honeycomb beeswax into Hanukkah candles. Everyone took turns wrestling the candles into the different shaped menorah holders. We set out the menorahs in front of the window, said the prayers and lit them. The candles glowed and reflected in the window. Everyone, even the kids, got quiet for a moment to marvel at the festival of lights. Then the giggles and laughter returned.
