We were quietly following a rouge swamp wallaby through meadows in the Blue Mountains outside Sydney Australia when we found ourselves at the edge of a cliff that overlooked the valley. We hadn’t noticed the sun tilting below the mountain line behind us, but when we did, I turned around and snapped this photograph. We weren’t sure why the trees in the foreground were sparkling, but as soon as the sun glowed this brilliant orange, the insects underground started singing wildly and we could only imagine the sparkles were some ancient life that’s always been alive here.
