Dutch falcon hood (front view). This hood and bells were homemade by Captain Meredith, who is considered the Father of American Falconry. The hood was made about 1920. The opening for the beak is enlarged so the falcon could be fed while wearing it. The green felt that was originally over the eye patches was made bare by the falcon’s efforts to uncover her eyes with her talons.
