At the window of one of their huts Labour camp, Western Front, during World War I. This shows a group of young black members of one of the Labour Corps. They are smiling and looking out of a hut window in one of the Labour Camps. They are probably members of the South African Native Labour Contingent (SANLC). This was originally formed in September 1916 to serve in non-military capacities in German South West Africa, and after February 1917 it was also used on the Western Front.
