The ancient Greeks, as good sailors and masters of growing grapes, could not fail to appreciate the Crimea. Therefore, the Peninsula became popular with colonists-settlers, who in Greece itself became cramped. As a result, archaeologists are now studying the remains of many Greek settlements on the Crimean coast, the largest and most famous of which is the Tauric Chersonesos, founded in the IV century BC and included in the UNESCO world heritage list.
