Society today is so litigious that everything comes with a warning sign, and many of them can safely be ignored. If, however, someone puts as much trouble into making a sign as the National Park Service did with this one, you should take it seriously. I followed this trail in the “wrong direction.” When I got to the Upheaval Dome spur, I had plenty of water and time; so I did it, too; and therefore, found myself in September in Utah (32+C/90+F) without any shade or breeze as I had to do a 1 mile ascent at 20% grade with absolutely no water. Stupid.
