I met this family in Ladakh, India, several kilometres from the Tibetan border. Inviting me into their tent, they explained how despite struggling to maintain their livelihood as nomadic yak herders in the harsher and dryer landscape of Ladakh, this situation was preferable to life under Chinese occupation. This picture of their children, two third generation refugees, crystallises one moment of joy and mischief as they play with an umbrella inside the tent.
