This alfa chimp was literally the grand father of the family at Greystoke Mahale, Tanzania a few years back. I had just come off of Kilimanjaro and then spent two weeks leading hikes and safaris throughout Tanzania. This was my first experience trekking for chimps and it is an ADVENTURE second to none. The walk and stalk to find them, the interaction with them and the images that jumped into my Canon were above my skill level. Rain gear and staying dry is paramount. Footing is impossible. Light is sporadic. Chimps move really fast. Fire ants are on your boots and mud on your hands. PERFECT!
