Being from Florida, very rarely do you get to find yourself 6,000+ feet above sea level right off the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway. Black Balsam Knob is one of my favorite hikes from the surrounding balsams to the wide openness of the knobs. The only con was the fact it felt like it was 20 degrees up there. That’s pretty much culture shock for a Floridan. It was worth it though, I mean who doesn’t enjoy feeling like they’re on the set of Lord Of The Rings?
