After cycling for two days along the Shimanami Kaido - a highway across the Seto Inland Sea in Japan - I arrived at the final bridge of the route. The bridge itself was breathtaking: four kilometres long, suspended high above a series of small islands. The views from it were even more impressive. Islands dotted into the distance, tranquil looking little beaches, and boats gliding slowly through the water.
