I wanted to highlight the colors in this dish since most caponatas are fairly brownish. The vibrancy of this recipe sets it apart. I like the casual feel of this shot. I broke the bread instead of cutting it and let the crumbs fall where they may and left the mess on the rim of the bowl. It’s a hearty, unpretentious Sicilian dish. I think my great grandmother, Carmela, would like this shot.
