A Tale in Layers
Winder, Georgia is a place of layers. Here you see an old abandoned warehouse with the original bricks. Someone’s cut a hole in it and lined it with new bricks. The door is probably even newer. The city is trying to get it fixed up, but it’s hard to find someone to invest in an expensive dilapidated historic downtown building when there’s ample new retail space down the road on highway 316. It’s one of the remnants of decades of decline amid Winder’s recovery in the last half decade. Hopefully someone will buy it and fix it. It’s a nice building.
