The Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse, most famously known for being moved 70 meters further inland on a set of tracks, as the coast was fading away due to coastal erosion. It was originally built on the edge of the North Sea at the end of 1900. The strong coastal winds constantly blow sand between sea and lighthouse to such extent that in the 1950s the dunes became so high that they blocked the light of the lighthouse. When new navigation technologies made the lighthouses superfluous, the light on Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse was switched off in 1968. The rugged nature still shapes the landscape to this d
