The young 'Veldheer (or warlord) of Elsloo', an oak with a story. This native oak (quercus robur) was planted here in 2011 by Elslo school schildren, to replace the old 'veldheer of Elsloo', so called by the inhabitants of Elsloo. It was a monumental oak tree that became more than 300 years old, with a circumference of about 4.5 meters, and was felled due to a strong wind some years earlier. The new 'veldheer of Elsloo' was placed next to the remnants of the old tree. Elsloo woods (Elslooërbos), Natura 2000, European nature protection area. Elsloo, Stein, Limburg, Netherlands.
