My home had flooded and was being rebuilt. I was visiting Newport for a weekend break from the remodelling. I’d just enjoyed a wonderful dinner at a new restaurant and was walking back to my hotel. I stopped to look out at the quiet Bay. The sun had slipped behind the horizon. But the afterglow lingered. It was early Spring, about ten weeks after the flood, and I felt warm again for the first time.
