A forest dead in summer

This is an old one from a school trip to Italy. It was taken somewhere in Capri on a day tour. It was an incredibly hot day and the whole group slowly got tired walking in the heat. We sat down in the shadows and this is what I saw. Sunbleached snail shells and needles from a tree. Dead remains in a surrounding that seemed so timeless and full of life.
