In the community of La Jolla, in San Diego, California, the Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve is the home to the rare Torrey pine tree. Also an endangered species, the Torrey pine grows only in the Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve, coastal northern San Diego county, and on one of the Channel Islands. This sand mountain was seen while winding through the trails of the Reserve late last December.
