We had been driving all morning from Christchurch. This was land we had never imagined before. Off the highway a short distance we find the small, quiet town of Kaikoura, in the off season. Admittedly, the roads this way were windy. Being on the wrong side of the car was nauseating. We find this little beach to rest on for a moment. In front of us, the all of the Pacific. Beyond that, something we could have still called home. Behind us, mountain ranges of infinite everything. And wine, we heard there was wine in those hills.
