On Mondays, the palace is closed but the gardens are open. Though no one told us this and we thought we would be disappointed by this - it was actually the best thing about it. Gardens, fountains, orange tree farms and all. Almost no one else was to be seen. Lizz is brooding in the pic, but I swear this was our favourite day from the week.
