Stegesund and Hästholmen are two islands located off Vaxholm in the Stockholm archipelago . Actually is Stegesund and Hästholmen a single island, but since 1899 they are separated by a narrow channel. The island has no road connection with the mainland and the narrow Step Strait separates the islands from Skarpö . The channel between Hästholmen and Stegesund today is only navigable by very small boats at low tide only with dinghies and canoes. The island has a permanent population of about 20 people from Wikipedia
