Statue of Lord Kelvin (born Willian Thomson) in the Botanic Gardens in the Queen's Quarter of Belfast. He is a native son of Belfast and a world renown natural philosopher, physicist, and mariner. He helped develop modern theories of electromagnetism and thermodynamics and created the scale of temperature with absolute zero that bears his name. He also helped lay the Atlantic telegraph cable between the U.K. and the U.S. (Jul., 2019)
